I wear pretty light weight pants or shorts, and have felt them going after my wallet before.
Usually a ladyboy, but be especially aware around kids, last time I was there a little gang of them were hanging around Sukhumvit and Asoke, by Soi Cowboy, little girl would try and lift wallets for people waiting to cross.
The Ladyboys will grab your junk and rub you all over to try and distract you. Sometimes in teams.
And, Thai people generally take much better care of there kids than let them wander the corner like this, I've wondered why police haven't gotten involved. But when you see them in an area like that after dark, be aware.
So have I. It occurred in a packed baht bus in Pattaya. Pretty soon it was just me, the LB and a farang guy with a Thai chick sitting across from me. The baht bus took a turn and the LB slid across the bench right up against me and I immediately saw he/she was grabbing for my wallet. Grabbed his hand and slammed him up against the wall of the compartment, he looked shocked and pressed the buzzer and jumped off the bus. The couple across from me looked shocked and the girl said I should go back to hotel and change clothes to look different in case anybody would look for me. Took her advice and did, lol.

I can honestly say Thailand is the most tolerant country I have ever traveled to.

I get cash an airport ATM of course, but after I arrive at the hotel I'm usually jet lagged as hell. I take a shower and hit the rack.

I stayed at one on Soi 7 several years ago. I liked it, but to be honest I cannot remember the name of it and of course that was pre pandemic.
Aren't there some youtuber's that review guest houses in Pattaya?

Cool story. I've had a couple of Thai GF's that loved the whole Christmas thing so much.

Metered taxi at the airport best option. Should cost no more than 400 baht. The train and BTS is good, but not that much cheaper and if crowded quite a hassle to bring your luggage with you.

I have only bought from the pharmacies in BKK and Patts. Sidegra.
Not sure about the street vendors wares. I'd be cautious about that. Buyer beware and all.

Ah, good old Nana hotel. The first time I stayed in BKK was at the Nana and even stayed there a couple more times later.
It's been a few years for me as well. I always just did the usual stroll down Soi 4, back around to Sukhumvit and even walk all the way down to Asoke and on to Soi Cowboy. Get a beer or two while strolling about.
