  1. Here's an experience I had at Bumrungrad- I fell and broke my wrist. It hurt like hell ! Went to see a surgeon at Bumrungrad. He took xrays and showed me what had to be done. It was a complicated fracture and surgery was needed.

I have no insurance here in Thailand so I had to pay up front before I was admitted. The total bill for the complete surgery, one night in a private room, all medications and follow up care came out to be a little over $7,100.00 USD or around 250,000 THB.

The next day during discharge they gave me money back ! Said the bill was less than what they estimated ! I could not believe it !

  2. I am in my late 50s and planning to settle in Bangkok by end of 2019. Any good health clinic to recommend for check ups (not STD)?

    Thanks.

I've been here for 9 years and have been going to Bumrungrad. Maybe a little expensive for some folks but how much is your health worth to yourself.  Had everything from the flu to surgery treated there.

  3.

Bus from Eckami Terminal to Pattaya leaves about every 30 minutes. 108 baht.

    Hi guys

Just looking for any ideas you may have. I had originally booked to stay at Sukhumvit 6/1 but have now decided to spend the rest of my trip (until Sunday) in Pattaya. I'm in Pattaya just now but my suitcase is at my Sukhumvit hotel. So at some point (probably Saturday) I'm going to have to return to pick up my suitcase. I got the bus down from the East terminal but there was a lot of waiting around so I'd like to take a cab if possible.

I'm probably going to want to spend a few hours when I get back to Bangkok as I really want to try Dr BJ. So I'm guessing that rules out taking a cab and having them wait for me. Other than paying around 2 x 1200 for a taxi or spending the extra waiting time taking the bus, is there any alternative that you guys can think of which may work?

    Thanks

  4. Hi was wondering if anybody stayed in the “ newer rooms”and if any recently stayed their , love the location , one thing I can’t deal with is roaches ,any body ever have a roach problem their ? Last yr I gave nana hotel a chance and every ;every ,room has roaches, even new rooms ;; what a shame could be good place;;; any negative or positive information would be appreciated:::: I usually Marriott - landmark, but not expecting that kind of service!! Last couple yrs trying new places since I fly bis class now ?lol

Racshack, I know what you mean about roaches (Palmetto Bugs , LOL ! ) . I'm from Central Fla. Been staying at Jasmine Hotel/Suites on corner of Sukhumvit and Soi23 6 months out of the year for about 8 years now. Never saw a roach or any other kind of bug there. I know they spray once a month, because I'm there. Great location !  Never need to spend the extra to stay at Landmark or Marriott.

    I fly bis class also.

    Hope this helps.

  5. You can get a bus from Pattaya to Ekamai think it's about 120bhat the bus station is right next to Ekamai BTS station so can hop straight on the BTS from there. Can get the BTS to Phaya Thai then get airport rail link to the airport depending on where your hotel is, the time of day and how many bags you've got it may be easier to just get a taxi for 350bhat. I mainly use the rail link getting from the airport into town if I arrive during peak traffic hours, it's a bit of a pain in the ass getting on the BTS with heavy bags.

Pattaya to Ekamai bus is 108 baht.

  6. Hi there,

I'm returning to Bangkok for the first time in years on 8th Oct.

I'm thinking that it would be great to bring two girls back one evening. From my last visit years ago I can remember this is actually not allowed but some hotels are fine.

I would be very grateful for any recommendations for 4 or. 5 star hotels that will be ok with two guests.

    Thanks in advance!

    A

Just Google "girl friendly hotels bangkok" to get a list.

  7. Hi, don't know if there is a Hua Hin thread, but if not, would Hua Hin be worth checking out, i'm not really into gogo's, I perfer oillies and BG's. And if this is the wrong place to ask, anyone know of a place to get good reviews on HH?

  8. Hi and firstly thanks in advance for the advise that you are about to give me.

So here is the situation, I have to go to Khon Kaen for a few days and I have done some research but I am lost. I don't know the place so this is where your advice comes in.

Where are the entertainment areas? Am I right to think they are around the Pullman Hotel area? I want to stay within walking distance of them.

Please any help would be appreciated

    Cheers

There are a number of small farang type bars around the Pullman. Some quantity of ladies but not much quality. Down the street from the Pullman are a number of Thai bars. If you speak some Thai, I think that would be the place to go as the Thai girls were younger and more attractive.

The Pullman is one of my favorite hotels. Clean, quiet, comfortable and I was never asked for a joiner fee. Also if you like Italian food there is a good small Italian restaurant around the corner next to the Pullman.

With all that said, I wouldn't travel to KK just for mongering. Right here in BKK or down in Pattaya is much better.

Good luck and have fun !

  9. Anyone had a girl at The Rembrandt? Their policy is 1000 joiner fee, but is it enforced?

    Inconclusive result from googling.

    Thanks!

I stayed in the "long stay" apartments  for two consecutive years ('10 & '11), had girls spend the night many times. Never got charged any joiner fees.  The desk staff would look when I came in with a girl but no one ever said anything. The manager ( an Indian guy) saw me a few times with a girl but nothing was ever said.

Never stayed in the hotel rooms.

  10. Hi guys just purchased my ticket to BKKthis cming march. i am meeting my Filipina girlfriend there who is an english instructor in BKK. I was wondering if any of you could point me to some nice touristy type destinations as well as good restaurants. gonna look around in forums too for good spots to try. not yet sure if i want to try the girly bars or the massage parlors yet as GF is quite psychic concerning any fooling around.. lol.

March '15 is a long way off. I'd be more than happy to look for "nice touristy type destinations" and "good restaurants" with your filipina g/f so she will know exactly where to take you when you arrive next year.. :P

    Please post photo of her.

  12. Hey Hey,

True Move (Terminal 21, 6th floor) had a promotion  for 320 baht plus 49 baht sim card. Not sure if it's still available.

  13. Could you have just said that you didn't have enough for the bill of 4400 baht and given them a credit card (without an ATM option) and even sweetened the pot by say throwing in another 1000 baht ? Then when your away from the area just call the fraud protection dept of your banks' credit card and tell them to not issue payment.

A few years ago on a business trip to Madrid this happened to me and I notified the bank who stopped payment.

  14. Anyone use Siam Legal for 1-year multiple entry visa? They claim they take care of all paperwork for about 15,000THB + 6,000THB Embassy fee.

I found some language schools that do ed visas but it's just as expensive.  Seems this would be a more hassle-free way.  Anyone have experience?

Wow !!  I think very expensive.  Two years ago while still living in the US I applied and received a Non-Immigrant O-A visa with multiple entry stamp from the Thai Embassy in Washington, DC. I believe the total it cost me was about $175.00 and that included the Fed-Ex charge of shipping both ways back to me in Fla.

Just go on the Thai Embassy web-site. There's some paperwork involved, some running around to get all the requested documents but it's easy and you'll have your 1 year visa with multiple entry stamp in a couple of weeks. Then you can renew in a year here in Thailand.
