Take the train up to Thonglor and stroll down Soi 38 for street food. Great American Rib Co. on 36 has the best smoked ribs in Asia - I'd be happy with them in KC or Memphis. Get a full rack and split it - it's a lot cheaper than 2 half racks. Hemingway's on 14 behind the SGS is excellent. For Thai Food, I like P kitchen on Soi 18 & the Beer Garden (sorry no FLs) on 19. If I want to spend some $$, it's Giusto's on 23. IMO, the best Italian in BKK

Love the duck at MK. All the food courts are a deal too. Street food w/AC. I like the chicken at Piri Piri at T21 & Emporium. Sunshine Tacos (Emporium & Soi 12) has a great 1/2 lb burger for around 200B. Their Mex is so-so.

Well everything else is covered. Let's talk sleeze. Try the soi bars on Suk & Soi 11. There will be plenty of FLs on Suk close to your hotel too. Climax & Penny Black are open late - late too. Check the threads over on PA. Usually if I get in as late as you, I try to stay awake on the flights, arrive fucking exhausted, crash for 10-12 hrs, & wake up on BKK time. UP2U, depends on your horniness factor.

Kingston Suites is better than pretty much everywhere at 1500B. If the pool is important go w/the RP though the one at KS is tiny.

I thought the place was all right, but I only paid around 2000B. CPT21 is more like 3500-4000. Look at Fraser Suites, Adelphi Suites, the Column, S-31, Shama Suites etc. for good deals in the 4 & 1/2 star range.

Started out as Ramada Encore. They changed the name and upped the price. It's pretty new, so one could to worse I suppose.

One can do A LOT BETTER. The Ambassador went off my radar about 10 years ago. They're are virtually no hotels that charge a joiner's fee for 1 girl anymore. I've probably stayed in 50 joints in BKK from ***s to *****s & I've yet to be asked to pay a fee.

You're talking the hotel I mentioned earlier (SGS) Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit I suppose. BarSu is on the ground floor, elevators by-pass the lobby, direct connection to BTS, and it's got the best pool in BKK IMO. Only downsides are that they've got a rennovation going on and you have to pay for Wifi (unless you're Gold or Plat).

Without paying 20,000B/nite for some kinda palatial suite. I suggest you check airbnb & Trip Advisor. I got a plush 2bd apt on Soi 12 a couple years ago on TA for around 3K. It had a huge deck with a garden and a jacuzzi and was up on the 39th floor. Town Lodge on 18 has some jacuzzi rooms on the cheap and it was just renno-ed.

The best luxury option deal is the new Marriott Sukhumvit. It's the '2500B 5 Star Sukhumvit Mystery Hotel' on Latestays and that's all in. It's right next to Thonglor Station. Probably has the best rooftop bar in BKK too.

The Hilton is good, but it wasn't much better than the Doubletree next door and it cost me a lot more points. The pool was disappointing to say the least. I thought the Sofitel was awesome, but I am Accor Plat and got upgraded. Suk Suites is good, but no pool or gym. The Centrepoint T21 and Grande Millenium are both excellent and can be had for around 3000 (ai). Nothing great about the Westin, Fourpoints, Raddisson, or Park Plaza. There's a new Carlson Blue going in around Suk 25 that I'm going to take a look at. Spare no expense & close to SC - the Sheraton, no doubt

I've satyed at the Star Inn many Xs - albeit for 90 mins. each X. I don't care how much they fixed it up. I wouldn't bunk there IIWY. From the photos, Maxim's seems a reasonable option.

I speak Thai and know the city a bit, saw your deal and ruled it out due to location. I assume you know neither. You'll probably be able to get good street food , due to BU, but there's nothing else nearby. Your at least a km from Ekkamai BTS, you'll be taking cabs a lot, and Rama IV is often clusterfucked. I'm going to give this place a shot in 3 weeks: http://www.agoda.com/waterford-diamond-tower/hotel/bangkok-th.html. People seem to give it a low rating because of the lack of staff English skill, and they want hotel amenities, but it's a fucking apt ! It's walking distance to Phrom Phong or Thonglor. If it sucks, I'll let you know. Maybe check out Trip Advisor, Craigslist, and Airbnb if you need a 2bd. You may be able to do better than I did.

Dave, I know you've got a job to do and I'll Google your man and appologize if he is truely a "master chef". The pictures of the food you're showing could be cooked by any rookie line cook in any restaurant I've owned or worked in. This food is the exact opposite of what any "master chef" would be putting out. How many "Master Chefs" WORK IN SPORTS BARS ? Not unless they've been fired everywhere else because they have a raging heroin addiction. Maybe it's good pub grub, but you know you're stretching it with the "master chef" stuff. After all every farang's resume gets inflated in BKK, no ?

Taxi, tolls, & tip should be in the 300 range, unless you're a big assed tipper. Late night you can skip the tollway and save yourself another 75.

I've seen it on sale and it seems like a good hotel for the $$. What made you wanna stay way the fuck over there ? Trolling for Bangkok Uni girls are we ? You should be OK with your 'guests' as it's a serviced apt.

Airbnb, Craiglist, Trip Advisor, Thai visa. IIWY I'd consider something farther out like Prahnakong or On Nut. They've built a shitload of new apts out there with nice pools and gyms and they can't fill 'em up. If you're close to a BTS Station, you're at Nana or SC in 15 mins. Late night it's a quick cheap taxi ride.

Never stayed there, but I stay at the Golden Tulip frequently & it's nearby. It's a long walk to Suk, & twice as long to BTS. The saving grace if there is any, is that it's not far to 22.
