I was just in Bangkok and Pattaya in March & April of this year and got insanely sick from food poisoning and then heat exhaustion. After that, I decided I wouldn't be coming back to LOS.
But then I saw the photos a friend of mine took when he was there last month and forgot all about being sick last time.
Just bought tickets for 3 weeks in February/early March of next year. I'm counting down the days until I have a cold Chang and warm bargirl in my hands.

I flew in and cleared immigration about 0100 and it was easiest to take one of the meter taxis that have parking spots just outside the airport. You get a ticket from a machine and it has a number for the slot your taxi is parked.
Be sure that they turn on the meter and don't try to quote your a price for the trip.

Have stayed there a couple of nights.
WiFi didn't work in my room, I guess due to bad luck being far from the router.
Probably wouldn't stay there again as I think there are better value options available
Do you recall which room you were in? I'm booked there with a non-refundable reservation in March and want to make sure I can get a room closer to where I'll still have internet access.
Also, some of the videos I've seen in YouTube show an Ibis golf cart with guests in it. Do they offer rides from the hotel up to Sukhumvit?

I stayed there a few nights back in March of this year. The room was fine, but felt very bare bones. The bathroom was pretty bad and felt like it hasn't changed in 30 years.
I also spent several nights at Majestic Suites and, aside from the noise from Nana Plaza, I enjoyed it much more.
For my trip next year I'll be staying at the Ibis on Soi 4 to try and avoid the noise and have a room that feels newer than at Nana hotel.

I'll second the suggestion of bodyglide anti chafing balm. I use it on my thighs whenever I am somewhere hot and it's a life saver.

I took Nam's taxi from Don Muang to Pattaya and it was a nice trip. I think they will pick you up at your Bangkok hotel also, but it's going to be more expensive than taking the bus. I believe it's around 1500 baht right now, but your best bet is to check with them

I flew EVA economy from LAX to BKK in February and it was pretty great. Just booked a return trip next year and didn't hesitate to go with EVA again.

I'm going to be in BKK from 21 Feb to 26 Feb and again from 4 March until 8 March. Over on the PA board they start up a Line group for everyone coming in a specific month. Might be a good way to keep in touch with others who are around then if you need a wingman or a mate to have a beer with.
