  1. I dont think the moderaters/admistrators actually come on here anymore! But even so no point stiring shit as i just post here to try and give some fellow boys some advice and dont see the point in being confrontational with anyone.

I'm not able to get moved to the advanced member group with access to the protected areas of the form. Keep getting an error message saying I am not authorized.

  2. Good to here you had a nice stay. I've been here a couple times and agree with your assessments. Pool was nice.

I was disapointed in the small gym and construction across the way from the main hotel. Breakfast was okay, but a bit sparse on the selections. Is that part of the hotel finished now?

  3. I stayed at Legacy Suites in a legacy suite for 2 weeks in june. It was my 1st trip to Thailand. This was not my choice my buddy had already booked a room here for his vacation and he had been to bkk a few times so I chose to stay at the same place.

This place is gf friendly. Never had a fee bringing more than one in either. Staff was friendly, spoke some or good english, and some had a sense of humor. Breakfeast was free but only decent imo but they did have a good egg-station.

My friend had one of their regular rooms and was a good size. I had a legacy suite which had two rooms very spacious. A couple of nights there were 4-6 people in the room and it never felt cramped. Also had a small dining table and kitchen area with microwave, w/d, and stovetop. The bathroom was spacious seperate shower and soaking tub.

The location is down Soi 29 Sukhumvit. Always felt safe walking down the soi. I think there was a japanese language school across the soi from the hotel. Don't get the cab that just sits in the soi cheaper to walk to Sukhumvit or find a metered one. The location of Legacy is good for walking to restaurants/pubs though. Also the Emporium Mall is a quick 10 minute walk and has an great food court. Eat at the Japanese restaurant with the windows facing Queen's Park(?) great view of bkk from there.

I did not eat in the Japanese restaurant at the hotel but heard it is good. The room service menu sucked but the chicken wings were good that's about it though. The workout facility was decent and had ac.

I enjoyed my stay but next time will probably opt for a 5 star hotel that has restaurants in the hotel because I'm lazy, workout, like to eat, and want many food options at my hotel or within a 2 minute walk. Didn't get that here but did get great service and big comfortable room.

  4. No idea why this came up under new posts, since I don't see any. But for an update, Jeff Savage - the Brit wanker who also was involved on the attacks on the ASEAN meeting in Pattaya - has been expelled back to the UK. The raving loony Irish-Aussie, Connor Purcell, has been shipped back to Oz (though many Aussies hoped they'd send him back to Ireland instead). Purcell "exaggerates" - to put it mildly. He was in the Oz army as an infantryman but not any SAS. He also was not shot in the demonstrations. Even stranger are the photos that surfaced of him 2 years earlier demonstrating for the yellow shirts, the Red shirts' opponents. Purcell is totally out to lunch and apparently thought he was taking part in the 1916 Easter Rising.

Too much time on his hands.

  5. I guess that for most people arriving to Bangkok, after taking the new train they will then need to get the skytrain and possibly a taxi as well (especially if carrying luggage) in order to get to their hotel. It costs me 350 baht to get a taxi door to door, airport to Sukhumvit Soi 8. The saving on the train will be about 100 baht - not really worth considering after a 12 hour flight.

A friend took it recently. He said its not really a good option if you have more than a carry-on bag/and or a backpack. I'd just pay the little extra for a taxi.

  6. There is a Sawasdee Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 8. I have stayed there last time very briefly (one night), it's nice and comfy. I was not in the mood that night and preety exhaused from the long fligth, so I did not learn about one important question.

    Is it Girl friendly?

I would apprciate feedback of anyone that stayed there. Usually Sawasdee are GG and LB-friendly, however while I was there I only saw backpackers.

How do you define girl-friendly? Don't note ID cards?

  7. Hi there,

Myself and a table-tennis colleague are searching for a place to have a knock within the next few days/weeks...we are both over here in Thailand at present. We both play in local leagues back home. Indoor tables seem to be sadly lacking in Thailand, would it be possible to come along and play against you/each other? I look forward to hearing from you, best wishes, Pete

I like to play myself - darn shame there are so few places to place in BKK.
