  1. Just wondering. How are you guys handling those? I had my fair share of hiv results anxiety attacks. Then learned how hard it is to get it in the first place. New hype are the herpies...

    PrEP

  2. Let the newbies get their posts in..... sure it may be an annoyance... but its a forum.. not the Moose Lodge :). I've been to Bangkok 7 times and been going to Thailand for over 9 years..... post count does not always indicate knowledge of a given subject

Post count only partially contributes towards advanced status. These replies to really old topics don't count.

  3. I disagree with locking threads, sometimes there's value in revisiting an old topic.

I get what you're saying about newbs bumping old threads.

Given that half of the time it's done to raise their post count, the other times is that they've used the search function to find something and have come up with an old topic. So be it.

To prevent old threads being used as a way to increase your post count instead shouldn't the progression to Advanced Member status be reviewed.

My suggestion here is to make it based on contributions where they've received upvotes. Or a vote system from the pool of existing members as who gets Advanced Membership. (just some thoughts)

It's already reviewed in this way, but that doesn't seem to stop people reviving really old threads for no apparent reason other than to add to the post count, hence my suggestion

  4. Due to the 50 post threshold for advanced member status, we frequently have new members who come onto the board and start replying to every thread they can find, even ones a few years old. Personally, I find this just negatively affects the signal-to-noise ratio, as the info is rarely current.

Is there a way of automatically locking threads that have not had any activity for a few months? I'm not sure what the right amount of time would be - maybe 6 months seems about right to me.

Not sure if this is possible with the board software, but I for one would appreciate this if it is possible. Other BMs welcome to chime in with their thoughts.

  5. No, it doesn’t. You are incorrect.

Not finishing a full regimen of antibiotics causes antibiotics resistance.

It’s not you becoming resistant, it’s the pathogen you are treating yourself for.

By not finishing a full regimen (usually 10 days) you run the risk that more resistant strains have survived, or mutated into resistant strains, and those will then reproduce, now more resistant to the treatment.

Hence, whey, whenever you start a treatment, finish it completely.

I didn't want to get into a long-winded explanation - what you say is correct, however taking antibiotics unnecessarily contributes to antibiotic resistance for various reasons (see your point #3, which can happen even with a fully completed course; mutation and partial resistance play a role here). Of course it's the pathogen that becomes resistant (I didn't suggest otherwise).

One of the current significant causes of pathogen resistance is the widespread use of antibiotic prophylaxis in livestock. Unnecessary antibiotic use should be discouraged - they should only be used in case of an infection, not just to make the worried-well feel better

  6. Hell, I'll do it for a reasonable fee :). Been mongering here for years....

Seriously though, you don't really need a company to do this for you. Just head to Nana Plaza! Everything you need is in one place. You just need someone to ride herd on all the folk in the party to get them to move from bar to bar.

  7.

I have a bad habit of taking girls to fancy restaurants. Mainly because I find it hard to justify expensive restaurants if I'm going alone, but somehow I find it ok if I have company. I don't do it to impress the girls though.

I do the same, although invariably they're outraged by the price. I recently took a girl to one of Bangkok's newly Michelin starred Thai restaurants. She said the food was good, but wanted to know why I was willing to pay this kind of money for Thai food when it can be had much cheaper in other restaurants. Her reaction mirrors that of others. I once had a girl not want to order when she saw the prices on the menu, haha.

  8. The Pullman Sukhumvit is a good choice. There is a back entrance on Soi 23 offering discrete private entry for you and your girl. Another very good hotel choice in the same price/quality range & location is the Radisson Blu. The Radisson Blu has a much nicer swimming pool, a roof top bar, and a great breakfast buffet. A third possibility is Grand Centre Point T21, as has already been mentioned in this thread. T21 is a good choice as well. The T21 pool is great! But, their standard room is a little small. I would upgrade to the deluxe or grand deluxe room if I were to book here.

Since you are only in BKK for 48 hours I recommend you choose one of the 3 (the Pullman Sukhumvit, the Radisson Blu, or the Grand Centre Point T21) that is currently offering the best deal on Agoda or Expedia. You can't go wrong with any of them. And if you want to pay a little more, get a little more, then consider the Westin or the Sofitel Sukhumvit.

Great advice. Right on the mark.

  9. One of my challenges is to always remember that these girls are real people. Even if they have been programmed to respond and act a certain way due to their previous experience and exposure to the realities of the environment within which they exist.

Now I challenge myself to look for the weak spots in their armor. Access that spot and attempt to find the girl still inside the working girl.

And this is the secret to having a true GFE. These girls are all real people. They're all different. They all have their own, unique story. Access the real person behind the coyote persona and you will be rewarded. So many guys come to Thailand and think that they can just buy these girls. Yes you can, superficially. They will fuck you for money. But if you want more than that, take the time to get to know them. Treat them like you would any normal girl you chat up at home. You will be surprised, pleasantly so. Do it right, and they fall in love with you. They're not all that different from the girls you've courted your whole life.

  10. Reviving an old thread again......but one of interest. I think the Thai tolerance towards foreigners is very superficial and has mostly to do with their love of money. Thais are the most racist people I have ever encountered, even to their own from Isaan or the south. When I first came to Thailand I was shocked by the overt racism displayed and endorsed by Thais. They're ethnocentric, believing in the absolute superiority of the Thai way and so ignorant of the outside world that they think all non-Thais are even more ignorant than they are. Open to other cultures they're most certainly not. Foreigners are tolerated because of their money and because the Thai way is to be polite in public, but don't mistake public politeness and tolerance for acceptance and open-mindedness. Foreigners will always be a curiosity and a resource to be exploited.

They're a hypocritical bunch too, banning pornography and alcohol on religious days, yet they have to be one of the most promiscuous people I have ever encountered. Thai women drop their panties really quickly and cheat on their partners without a seconds hesitation. I wouldn't by any stretch of the imagination call Thais open-minded; they're just tolerant of promiscuous sexual behaviour while condemning it in public. If you want to see the depths of their intolerance, just look at their political system.

I agree with the poster from 2015 who said that "there is always an undercurrent of pent up hatred for the farangs by thai guys". Absolutely; they detest that farang money can buy the girls they so desperately want to fuck and it does sometimes explode with calamitous consequences; such as when the jealous Tom throws a wobbly outside the bar she works at because she just wants to fuck all the coyotes and some customer is getting in her way, or when the Thai boyfriend comes to check on his girl after she's finished work and sees her walking hand in hand with her farang customer.

  11. You can pick up a private hire car for the day for 3,000 baht who will take you there, show you all the tourist sights and then take you back to Bangkok in air-conditioned comfort. If you're not too price sensitive, it's a great option.

  12. This is a rubbish place only frequented by tourists because of the Hangover fame. I don't think I've ever seen a Thai person on the couple of occasions I've been dragged there by someone visiting Bangkok who wants to see it. That kind of money can buy you some truly great food in some of the top restaurants in Bangkok. Twice over.

  13. Hi js89

Thanks for raising this. Its a bit beyond me but i can say with 100% certainly that domain/website is not mine. It is also not on our server at all. We have a dedicated server and host only our own sites on there - 100% that is not one of them.

I am not tech minded so I don't claim to understand what these people have done but will get it looked into - so thanks again.

It's most likey an old PTR record that might have been assigned to some previous client of Mojohost, your hosting provider and never got updated when your server got allocated this IP address.

Mojohost.com should have a control panel and there will likely be a tab for DNS settings. It's here that you will find the ability to add / update / delete the forward and reverse record for your server. If you can't see the entry in your control panel there, I suggest pinging their support.

  14. This post serves both as a heads up to the operators of bangkok-addicts.com as well as to those of you who use the forum from a work computer.

While browsing my netflow records, I happened to notice quite a lot of http connections to a domain called "sexy-teen-pussies.com".

Since I have no recollection of browsing any porn from this type and I also use many browser extensions that would prevent, among other things, loading ads from such a site, I immediately started looking at it as it raised a few alarm bells. It turns out that the PTR record (that is to say, the reverse DNS record that maps an IP address to a hostname) for the bangkok-addicts.com IP address does not, as you would expect, return bangkok-addicts.com but instead resolves to sexy-teen-pussies.com.

So, for forum users, if you're using this site from a work computer and your employer keeps logs of website access (or collects netflow data), be aware that it will appear that you're accessing a site called sexy-teen-pussies.com.

To the operators of bangkok-addicts.com, could I suggest that you update the reverse DNS record for 208.122.218.246 to point to the correct canonical name bangkok-addicts.com

    $ nslookup
