What do the hotels who aren't "guest friendly" usually charge and are they that up on their game that they know everyone coming and going in order to fine you?
-
I only used my T-Mobile phone for "talk" and "text" in Bangkok and Chiang Mai and the signal is very good. Signal probably better than in the states because you are using Thai networks with better signal coverage or at least better than what I have in the states. I use a cheap phone with Thai SIM card for all in-country calls.
Awesome thanks

For those that have multiple trips to the LOS what are the "bullet points" you look for in a hotel? Besides price and cleanliness, I would imagine closeness and openness of of extra guest. I think I've read one or two post where people have mentioned using in-room safes but if you were going to give some a list to checkoff what would that list consist of?
- Price (Whats an estimate for 3 or 4 star?)
- Cleanliness
- Closeness (How far is too far?)
- Openness (Will you get up-charged or told no for bringing a ST or LT girl back)
- Safe
- something
- something else
- something most people don't think of
- something most normal people don't think of
- etc...

If you haven't already done so, register on the sister forum Pattaya Addicts, then go read this thread: http://www.pattaya-addicts.com/forum/topic/233012-t-mobile-simple-choice-plan-usa/?hl=tmobile&do=findComment&comment=2696440
Generally positive reports from the members who've used it in Thailand, good signal in Bangkok and Pattaya, only downside is slow data speeds.
I have not yet but I've been thinking about it lately. Seems like a lot of the good quality posts are over there.
It works just fine. Takes a minute or two to register once you land in LOS but after that you are good to go.
Data is listed to be 256kbs but I regularly found it to be above that speed. Faster than Edge and normally 3G or faster.
I got better speeds on my Android devices than I did on the IOS phones. That could be due to the prevalent bands used in the LOS radios.
Enjoy.
Very good to know, I was a little worried but knowing that saves me from having to buy a burner phone.

Not that I can remember. It is a good experience being up close though.
Any tips on where to sit up close or should I bring food/snacks if possible? Maybe get there early? Buy tickets in advance or anything like that?

Go to the night markets, lots of authentic Thai food, at reasonable prices! Just point and choose what you like to try! Enjoy! : p
Plahgat
Is there a big difference in Authentic Thai food and American Thai food like there is between Authentic Chinese and American Chinese?

"Don't know, never been but since there seem to be many businesses that do it, more than a few people do."
To OP. You must mix up with the other Thailand destinations like Pattaya or Phuket where public transportation is limited. In Bangkok, normally, no tourists come here for 4 days to rent a motorcycle/scooter except you volunteer to become a "human vacuum cleaner" to clear out the smog and dust on the streets!
You guys have convinced me... DO NOT GET A MOTORCYCLE.

Has anyone confirmed this doner kebab spot.
-
I figure there has to be one place?

In Bangkok, BTS, MTR, bus, taxi, motorbike taxi, tuk tuk and your feet could take you to almost anywhere in the city. Why would someone want to rent a motorcycle/scooter for a 4 days trip in that crazy Bangkok traffic?
Don't know, never been but since there seem to be many businesses that do it, more than a few people do.
Sorry, renting is not an option.....
When in Bangkok in the first couple of hours you will understand why that idea is a complete NO-NO!
You have to see it to believe!
I'm guessing crazy drivers and complete congestion

Also how dangerous? What are the motorcycle related laws in BKK?

EVERY Beginners Guide to Bangkok states that you should learn some words or phrases in Thai but they all forget to say what are the best things to learn. So I want to know from those that have been there what are some words phrases that could have helped you out? Are certain words better to learn or should I practice whole phrases. I made a list of words and phrases I think might help me out but if I could get some critiques that would be awesome.
Words:
drink
food
spicy
yes
no
wait
fast
slow
taxi
hotel
Phrases:
How much for...
Where is...
How do I get to...
What is your name?
How are you?

Lumpini is better imo but I heard they will be closing that at some point in the future so worth checking out Ratchadamoen too. I thought 2k was a rip off, even if it was ringside. Tit I guess
I think there used to be some fights at mbk too.
Besides a great view does ringside come with any other particular perks?

Are we talking basic signal or can I get a 3G, 4G, LTE signal?

I think everyone wants to try native Thai food when they come to Thailand but where should I go to get it and what should I order?
and any other restaurants that I wont experience like I would experience there.
Best spot for american style breakfast?
