  1. I was actually there the same time the original poster was there, May 23rd - June 3rd. This was my 2nd time staying at this hotel, I booked a Jr. Suite (Tower 2) as I did the 1st time. The Jr. Suite was nice and spacious with a King size bed. What I learned from my 1st stay here is, if you're in Tower 2 do not stay on the side of the Tower that is facing the Ambassador Hotel. They have this bird exhibit/zoo of some sort, the birds can be really noisy during the day (more so in the morning). This recent trip I asked for a room facing the BKK skyline (Facing Soi 11). Great view (14th Floor) when you're with your special someone doing the deed (if you know what i mean).  The breakfast was decent, the gym is not bad as well and I had no Issue with Wifi. Also, forgot to mention...they are doing some sort of renovation at the entrance of Tower 2. So there are some construction workers going in and out, just an fyi.

In conclusion, I'd stay at this hotel again in a heartbeat... It's in the middle of all the main mongering attractions (Nana/Cowboy) and Clubs (Climax/Levels).

  2. I stayed in the Junior suite at 23:th floor at Grand President. Very quiet room. Good value for the money. Ambassdor is a cheaper options but quiet room and near to massage and bars.

I also stayed at Grand President (Jr. Suite - 19th Floor / Tower 2) last month. I happened to be facing the Ambassador Hotel which has exotic birds that are loud and annoying (Usually in the mornings).

  3. Stayed at the Ambassador in early April for a couple days and I thought it was OK for the cheap price we got through booking.com or a site like that (don't remember which one).

The rooms are not too shabby; not the best around but I thought they were generally clean and service was fine. We stayed in the wing with the elevators right next to the lobby, opposite of the concierge desk. I assume that's the main wing.

The pool is generally fine too, clean and all, but it's on the 3rd floor platform or so and it's basically enclosed by walls and trees from all sides. So there's rarely even the slightest breeze. Far too hot!

I'll probably follow some of the advice in here and book a different hotel the next time. Although I'd like to stay on Soi 11 for sure.

I agree with you, I was probably there the same time you were (April 2nd - 11th) but I stayed in the tower instead of the Main Wing. I don't see myself staying there for my next holiday but like you, I will be staying in a hotel on Soi 11 for sure.

  4. I was impressed with the lobby at the Ambassador and disappointed with the rooms.

I was with a Thai gf at the time ,so I can't comment about it being guest friendly.

I guess you're going in April,so if I were you I'd cancel the Ambassador booking,if you can without any loss of money, and re-book somewhere else on soi 11.There's stacks to choose from and much better quality.Plus less worry knowing you're going into a guest friendly hotel.

    Just my 2 satang

    p.s.

Whatever happens, please let us know how you got on

To tell you the truth, my stay at the Ambassador was not bad at all. If you stay in the Tower you get free WiFi and the maids do a pretty good job, I think the horror stories are from the people who stayed in the old standard main wing. As for the guest friendly question, from my experience it is a guest friendly hotel, just make sure when you book your room it's for 2 max adults. Also, just an FYI the guard or man that collects ID's/Passports of your guest will ask for a tip. So I told him to never eat yellow snow, jk... I tipped him 100bhat and he was happy with that.

  5. A lot of good information here, Thanks guys for the help. I sent the hotel an email, just waiting for their reply back.

Stayed here in 2012 they did not charge joiner fee .,

But it could have changed .

Will not stay in this hotel again because room was dirty and hotel needs to be refurbished and too many loud Arabs .

I'm assuming you stayed in the standard main wing? Read a lot of horror stories about that part of the hotel. I'm staying in the new superior tower wing, they say it's a hell of a lot better than the standard main wing and free WI Fi is provided in the superior tower wing. I chose this hotel because of it's location, they have a pretty decent gym and all the night clubs are on Soi 11 (also helps that climax is here as well).

  6. I'll be staying at the Ambassador for my holiday next month, I did some research on this forum and other sites and found that it was guess friendly. When I made my reservation I made it for two max guess per room. I posted on a thread on this forum in regards to Soi 11 mentioning that I will be staying at the Ambassador and one of the BM's told me that Ambassador is charging a joiner fee? Anyone stay at that hotel lately? Thought I would ask you guys here first before I call the actual hotel, thanks for your help.

  7. Be aware if you are going there for girls, I've heard they charge a joiner fee. Not sure if it's still the case, though...So strange since they have a nightclub full of freelancers downstairs.

Thanks for the heads up, I hope not. I will report on this when I get back.

  8. Will be going to BKK for the first time in April, did a search and did not get any hits. I did some google and youtube searches and it seemed like this place is pretty live. I enjoy Hip Hop, R&B with some electro (house/dub-step) which they spin at this club. For the BM's on this board that have been there, is there a lot of FL's that go there or just the usual local TG's? Also, since I really don't know the area, how far is it from Nana Plaza/Soi Cowboy? I'm in the process of booking my hotel and will probably get one in between Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy.
