I think the Oriental and the Atlanta are the only two hotels that have a strict no guest policy.  Some 6 star hotels like the St Regis and Waldorf might also have restrictions.

 

Sorry, I don't stay in 4 star hotel like Four Points. I usually stay in Sofitel.

Congratulations.  I've stayed at the Sofitel in BKK and the rooms are not much better than the Four Points, and definitely a big step down from the Sheraton Grande.  Only stand out experience was the bakery in the lobby that served excellent croissants.

 

Like I said in the post early. YOU HAVE BETTER EXPERTISE than the management of Sheraton and Hooters!

I have stayed at the Four Points several times, decent hotel but has not been kept up as well when it first opened.  The management of Sheraton probably had limited/no input into the decision to open the Hooters, it was probably made by the local operator under contract from Sheraton and.or the building owner.   Most of the staff I talked to at the hotel said that it was an odd choice to open the Hooters there, especially as it opens directly into the lobby.  It will be a detractor for people looking to rent out meeting rooms or use it as a business hotel (used to be a lot of Japanese business travellers there).  If it starts to be a magnet for freelancers, and given the location on lower Sukhuvmit that is a real possibility, then it will be a big problem from the hotel.

 

Draft beer! 4 star hotel sell draft beers! No wonder they got rid of that. Good decision Four points!

Better than a chicken wings restaurant with a reputation for making people ill.

Did you ever go to the Beer Vault?  Have stayed at the Four Points many times and used to go there for a pre-drink.

And yes, a hotel bar with a decent selection of draft beer in Bangkok is a bit of rarity...can't recall any of the hotels near the Four Points that had more than one beer on draft (usually Chang or Heineken).

Still a shame that they got rid of The Beer Vault at Four Points...was a decent hotel bar with a good selection of draft beers. 

 

that is an accurate translation. Tood gai yang translated from Thai to English mean Ass Chicken Grilled

...except the menu says haang gai yang...which means chicken tail.

 

Agreed their spelling is not always good but locals can cope with mis spelt words just as we can in our native tongue.

This is true...just surprising the frequency that it occurs in the local print media relative to what you see in the west.

 

Since j learned the alphabet I notice lots of basic spelling errors from girls on Facebook posting status' ect.

I have noticed the same thing...there doesn't seem to be a spell check in Thai.  Also noticed that the local newspapers are frequently full of misspellings.  Perhaps there is less emphasis in proper spelling in Thai.

Per the menu in one of your photos they sell grilled chicken ass?  They probably should have had some proof the spelling instead of just using Google translate.

Jim Thomposon's house is also worth a visit, very close to the National Stadium BTS station.  Always found it to be relaxing there.

I think it doesn't fit with a 4 star hotel either...maybe it would be a bitter fit for the Grace Hotel.

Hooters is usually a good place to watch sports since they have a lot of TVs but their food is terrible / poor value for money.  Anyone know why the Four Points Sheraton agreed to have Hooters located in thier lobby?  Seems like it reflects poorly on the quality of the hotel.

The location of the Sukothai isn't that great, located on Sathorn and away from the street (not bad for noise reasons I guess).  The rooms there are decent and the grounds are nice though.  Personally, I would stay at the Le Meridien on Suriwong if you want to stay in that general area.  A very nice hotel and you are across the street from the entrace to Patpong.
