Holiday Inn Express Bangkok Sukhumvit 11

Holiday Inn Express Bangkok Sukhumvit 11

Location: At the end of Sukhumvit Soi 11. A good 10 minute walk from Sukhumvit primarily due to the uneven, narrow sidewalks and people. A bit of a hassle rolling my suitcase to the hotel. Across the street is Insanity club and that club whose name I don’t remember at Aloft Hotel. Across the other street is a pretty good 7-Eleven which stocks travel size toiletries if you need them.

Breakfast: In the lobby and included free. It never got crowded enough that I wasn’t able to get a table to myself. I guess the hotel was far from being full. Not a huge selection really. Scrambled eggs, noodles or rice, baked beans, sausage, breads, cereals and fruit. The pastries tasted really bland. The coffee from the machine was surprisingly good. If you enjoy a good breakfast then I’d recommend going down the street to try one of the bars instead. Since breakfast was included with the room it was good enough for me. I wouldn't openly recommend it other than for that reason though.

Room: My room was street-facing and the noise of the taxis and motorbikes came through as if there were no walls or windows at all. Non-stop outside noise from 9 am to 2 am. It was incredibly annoying. Couch, chair and mini fridge in the room. Bed was comfortable as were the pillows. The hotel itself only has 8 floors which means no good views no matter which room.

Bathroom: Typical size and layout for Holiday Inn Express. Can accommodate two people at the same time though the sink, toilet and shower don’t have any separation or dividers.

Girl-friendly: Yes. For the outcalls I had, some girls contacted me when they were in the lobby and I went down to meet them. No questions from the front desk. Other outcall girls the front desk had called me when they were downstairs and asked that I go down to bring them up. I then met the girls in the lounge area and they came up with me. The freelancers from the streets we just walked in together and no questions from the front desk.

Did the walk of shame every time past the front desk and hotel guests.

Two 300 ml bottles of water provided daily.

Wifi averaged about 30 Mbps both down and up. Porn sites are blocked. I tried multiple times.

Small gym is on the roof with 4 cardio machines and a bench with dumbbells. Not really enough room to accommodate more than 3 people. The dumbbells go up to 50 lbs. The floors don't have mats if you're thinking of using the free weights. Real oversight on the gym here.

No pool.

Self-service laundry in the basement. No signs indicating this. I saw an online review mention this so I went searching in the hotel. Uses coins and one hour each for washing and drying. I think the rates were 60 baht for the washer and 90 baht for the dryer. More expensive than outside, but here you don't have to leave the hotel and it'll be washed in an hour. Dry in another hour if you desire.

I booked directly through the IHG site and used a Friends and Family code I have. Prepayment at time of booking (months ago) was required. No questions asked about my F&F discount. My experience with some other IHG properties is that this is a hotel-by-hotel basis where they may try to verify the F&F discount. This hotel didn't ask for the F&F discount claim form either.

I'm resurrecting this thread instead of starting a new one.

Anybody have feedback on Holiday Inn Express Bangkok Sukhumvit 11

I'm probably going to try a few different ones around Asoke and Nana.  It's looking like I'll do the SHA stay at the Grande Centre Point Hotel Terminal 21 (SHA Plus+).

I stayed there in 2017. I highly recommend it. It was a fairly new hotel when I stayed there. Great location. Levels disco, probably closed now, was across the street.  Good customer service which you expect to have with a worldwide national hotel chain. The buffet breakfast was typical you would find at the American Holiday Inn Express hotels in the States and I have stayed at a lot of them. The laundry room was the best amenity. I saved money not having to use wash and fold service.

If not mistaken its' a SHA approved hotel. I plan to stay there when I return. In 2017 it was $68 a night, it's down to $42 now, I book through IHG, I'm a awards member, free cancellation within 48 hours of scheduled check in.

Like Brother Adore said, it's a GF hotel, if you walk in with a FL or BG on your arm, no questions asked, just head to the room.  If an escort from agency arrives front desk will call you and you come down to lobby. Front desk will call you again when she leaves and picks up her ID.

Haven't stayed at that Holiday Inn, I do often stay at the Westin on Soi 11, I would recommend it, great location, great buffet as discussed on a different thread

I was looking at the Westin vs. Holiday Inn and see that Westin has a "no refund policy" on Agoda.  I'd like to stay there but I've already had to postpone my trip once and could get hosed.  I'm gonna hit that breakfast buffet for sure though.

Ah, ok, didn't know about that no refund policy.  That's not so good.  But yes, enjoy the buffet anyway.

I waited too long and Holiday Inn is all booked up for my dates now.  Back to square one.   Arte is non-refundable too I saw.
