Fast Track Immigration

Recommended Posts

Every time I go through BKK, the wait at immigration is 30-60 mins. What a nightmare. And by the time I get through, the lady bag is already out on the carousel. BKK is one of the slowest for immigration processing. Even Tokyo is way faster. Just my observation.

It would be interesting see if arrival time and day has any major effect on the lines etc. - Is there a particular time when there is very few International flights arriving.

When I arrive around 8:40PM I have always found the immigration line long and wait from 15 minutes to 30 minutes.

When the flight has been delayed due to weather around that time the wait has been longer.

My last 2 arrivals were approx. 5:30PM a 50 minute delay on the scheduled time and the line was non existent, had my pick of immigration officers to stamp the passport.

The last flight also was approx. 60% capacity so not a lot of people to race to the Immigration counter :D

One arrival was around 10PM and used the closest immigration area near Gate D ?? and had to wait, as I walked down to get my bag I walked past the usual Immigration counters I go through and there was no one waiting at all.

Try India - pick any airport - they all suck; even flying business doesn't get you through without some waiting in line while Indian government employees poke along at a snail's pace.

Yup, nearly all my arrivals into BKK are after 9:30pm or before 7:00am and I've never, at least since BKK opened in 2006, had to wait more than 15 minutes ... though I fly business and most often I'm the first one or two in line ... I've amassed a collection of nearly two dozen fast track cards because the first immigration area is usually sufficient to fly through.

The one time in recent memory that I had to wait 30 minutes or so was a mid-afternoon arrival on a Saturday.

I also enjoy the brisk walk from gate to immigration ... helps to wake me up and get energized for the ST that awaits me in about an hour.

DMK, on the other hand, was a completely different story prior to 2006.

The 400 Bht fast track coupon has another advantage, other then the more expensive fast track with assistance. If you see there are no lines to speak off at immigration, you can use it another time.......

Exactly.

It's all you need.

I once was stucked behind 3 air planes full of Chinese people  ..... , after that i buy my fast lane ticket online..well worth the 400 baht!!

Thats where you should also remember there is a 2nd Immigration area and pop along and see what the line is like there.

If it looks like it will take too long to get through then use the fast track card, if it is a short wait then save the card for next time.
