alucex Posted November 29 Posted November 29 Hi! Any museum you would advise? Preferably modern art but open to other suggestions. Thanks!

You mean museum or an art exhibition? There are two art exhibitions I know. One is next to MBK Mall and is called BACC Bangkok Art and Culture Center. Then there is https://www.bangkokartcity.org/ where you can find other exhibitions. I never have been to an interesting museum in Thailand, so I can't really comment on that.

MOCA Bangkok – The city’s best contemporary art museum with a large Thai modern art collection. BACC (Bangkok Art & Culture Centre) – Central, easy to visit, and known for rotating modern and experimental exhibitions. Jim Thompson Art Center – Modern Southeast Asian art in a sleek new gallery space. RCB Galleria (River City Bangkok) – Contemporary shows, digital art, and photography along the river. 100 Tonson Foundation – Small, high-quality contemporary art space with curated exhibitions. 1
NanAtSOL Posted November 29 Posted November 29 I think the Patpong Musuem closed down. There's a cultural museum in the Old Town, dunno if it has any art tho
28templarknight Posted November 29 Posted November 29 The Bangkok Cultural Center near MBK is worth a visit. 1 1
bgtp Posted November 29 Posted November 29 I go to BACC every time I’m in town. It’s easy enough to get to (connected to National Stadium BTS, opposite MBK entrance) and free. I’ve seen one outstanding exhibit (by photojournalist James Nachtwey) and some other pretty good ones. Tbf, many have been kind of meh, but I’m usually in the neighborhood at least once every trip and pop in. I went to MOCA once. Take the BTS to either Sena Nikhom or Kasetsart University and catch a Grab/Bolt from there. It was free for me as a senior. It’s OK, but nothing like you would see in the US or Europe. Probably not worth the trip if staying on Sukhumvit and pressed for time. Only if you’re into aviation history, I’d recommend the Royal Thai Air Force Museum. It has its own BTS stop. There’s also a museum in Benchakitti Park that has a very impressive scale model of Bangkok if you’re into that sort of thing. An easy walk from Asok BTS station. 1 1
