I would stay near your hotel and don't take any taxi.

I normally stay near Sukumvit and stay in walking distance to whereever I am going to avoid traffic.

If you up for a party type thing, many hotels have rooftop bars with a fee including food and beverages.

I stayed near Nana Plaza last year and they were shooting fireworks off all over the place.  No big professional shows in the area as far as I know, but lots of hotels appeared to be shooting off their own and lots of personal fireworks going off all over the place all night long until dawn.  Some pretty big and loud shells.  I am assuming it's hotels doing a lot of it as those shells are not cheap.  I don't think any of it is legal in the city on rooftops like that, but that doesn't seem to stop absolutely everyone from doing it.

Don't plan on getting any sleep if staying anywhere near there, or prepare to wear earplugs.  The next morning Soi Nana was completely littered with fireworks and all sort of other NYE party paraphernalia.  If you are looking for a party area, you can do a lot worse.

Yes. Bangkok traditionally has several big New Year’s Eve countdowns with fireworks, and 2025→2026 is shaping up the same way, centered on CentralWorld and the Chao Phraya River area:

  • CentralWorld (Ratchaprasong)

    • Huge free street countdown with live music, light shows, and a roughly 10 to 15 minute fireworks display at midnight above the city skyline.

    • Expect very dense crowds (hundreds of thousands of people), road closures, and packed BTS around Chit Lom/Siam.

  • ICONSIAM / Chao Phraya River

    • Hosts the “Amazing Thailand Countdown” with a long, choreographed fireworks show over the river, plus concerts and cultural performances; the 2025 event used about 1.4 km of riverfront fireworks and similar is advertised for 2026.

    • Fireworks are visible from many riverside spots and from New Year’s Eve dinner cruises on the Chao Phraya.

  • Other central malls and riverfront spots

    • Places like Asiatique the Riverfront and Siam Paragon usually run NYE events where you can see at least part of the city’s fireworks, even if their own displays are smaller than CentralWorld or ICONSIAM.

It's an easy 25 min 1.7km walk to CentralWorld from the Nana area, I think you can also see a lot of it from there.  Especially if you are on a rooftop.  That may have been where a lot of the big shells I saw and heard were going off.  I remember seeing them all over the place.  In all directions.
