Barry Wom Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 Hi, I'm considering starting 72hr water fasting for weight loss and to reset my body. Has anyone had the fasting experience and could tell me the pros & cons, and any tips. I've checked out fasting info sites, but they seem contradictory regarding exercising while fasting. TIA

TIA I did multiple water fasts. 3 days is the hardest. Because the hunger will be the strongest on the end of day 2 and day 3. For a 3 day fast you also don't need to prepare anything (Snake Juice etc.), just do it. I would break the fast classic with an apple. And then after some time with a good soup. 1

expotbkk Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 Also a common side effect is insomnia. That should start around day 3. 1

Herbby Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 I would not of thought water fasting is a good weight loss technique. It contains no calories, and you will just end up dehydrated. The most effective thing I have done, is cut carbs and continuing to exercise. Was losing around half a kilo a day for the first week. 2
donmarco Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 (edited) I’ve done a few (last one was 2019). I can’t speak to all the marketing benefits, but if I feel im getting sick, run down, etc.. I try 3 days water fasting sometimes. Seems to help. For me, the first 1.5 days is the hardest, the last 1.5 days I’m cruising alone fine. That said, the point is a digestive reset so it ain’t going to do much if one returns to the same diet/habits as they did before the fast (guilty as charged). I have a warm and tender spot in my heart for Bangkok street food and that will never change. fasts aren’t really about weight lose, but it does help address one’s food addictions, habits, and cravings by forcing you to push them aside during the fast (and hopeful gain more control after). The entire point is flushing your system out with copious water and giving the digestive system the time off. And unless you live on a diet compromised on almost all fruit and veggies your food calories (I.e. cooked food) dehydrate you, not hydrate. fyi… your certainly not running a 3500 cal deficit daily, so much of your weight lose is fluid. Rocky Rockstar Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 What’s wrong with eating more healthily and doing some exercise? It might surprise you…. 1

Ahh, I get you. I thought you meant going without water 😅 I thought it seemed strange. I have done it for 24 hours. 1
