I am here with an LTR visa and just heard about this but don’t understand it’s with.

There's hardly a detail missing about what it is, how to get it and where to use it from that article. I'd say if you have the documents it would be foolish not to spend a whopping $3.

Thanks for the response.  Wanted to see if anyone had it and actually used it.  However,  might just get it and find out myself 🙃

I use mine all the time. You need the house owner to list you in a Yellow book, a housebook for foreigners. It saves endless residence certificates. You can sometimes get discounts as well.

There are 2 camps: those that have the card laud it, those that don't have it say it doesn't matter.

First you need to understand what the "pink card" actually is. For Thai people, they all have a blue national ID card with a unique identifier number. They need this for everything and losing it is a major problem.

For foreigners, Thai business/government entities will expect you to have a passport. When you go to open a bank account? Passport. When you get a driving license? Passport. Get a Rabbit Card for the BTS? Yep, PASSPORT. Nobody will ever ever ask you for a "pink card".

Oh, wait, there is one thing. When you go to 711 they will always ask if you are a member. Maybe one day you say that you want all the benefits of 711 membership and ask to be a member. Well, you can't be a member. Why? Because to register as a member they need an identifier number the same as a Thai Blue National ID. And the only way that a foreigner can get one of those numbers is to get a "pink card", which looks exactly like a Thai Blue National ID in format, but the only difference is that it is a pink color.

So how do you get a "pink card"?

FIRST, buy property in Thailand OR marry a nice Thai lady. If you to the former, you will get a Blue House Book registering the property. No, your name will not be in the book becuase only Thai people can be there.

SECOND, you need to then convert your useless Blue House Book to a Yellow House Book because that is what a foreigner can use for registry. This book effectively establishes that you have a "permanent domicile" in Thailand.

THIRD, use the Yellow House Book to apply for a PINK CARD. Now you can register as a 711 member.

I am leaving out a LOT of administrative and bureaucratic BS in all of these steps, but you get the picture. Your LTR visa means nothing in this process. For consideration. AR.

The Pink Card in itself is kinda useless: if you have a Thai Driving license you can use that instead at every place where a Passport is not strictly required (which for me is Hotel check-in and access to some office buildings)

The real benefit is getting the Yellow House book which can be used instead of a Certificate of Residence from the Immigration. That saves a lot of time not having to deal with Immigration to request a new certificate every time you need to proof your address (to renew driving license, to buy a car/bike, to open a bank account, etc).
For the driving license, having the Pink ID card actually allows you to link the driving license to the Pink ID number (which never change) instead of your Passport number (which change every time u get a new passport).

I would suggest anyone to get the Yellow House book if they are allowed to. At that point can also follow up to get the Pink Id card as it's done in the same office anyway.
