Can anyone recommend an optician in BKK?

I'll be there in a couple of weeks; will have my own perscription but figure it will likely be cheaper to get a set of specs there, vs. UK prices.

Any suggestions/advice?

I get single vision frames and coated lenses in a week for for the equivalent of 690B. I went into Top Charoen and they wouldn't do anything for so little.

They were a bit pushy about wanting to redo the exam even though I have 3 current RX.

A holiday in BKK is not the time to get prescription glasses.  You'll waste a lot of valuable time. I went through this experience with a friend last year in BKK and it became a total shit show at Top Charoen. The prices weren't any lower than in the US.

I recommend on-line websites for prescription glasses back in your home country for the best deals.

My friend also thought he could get his cracked cell phone screen repaired for a cheap price in BKK.  He ended up paying about $100 and a few days later the screen acted up so badly the phone was barely usable.  He didn't want to go to the time and hassle of getting it repaired again and just dealt with it for the rest of his vacation.

You have limited time, don't waste it on things you can easily take care of in your home country.  The only thing I would recommend for a tourist looking to save a few bucks on his vacation is a haircut, especially if you don't have lots of hair.
