Kurios
Hey all knowledgeable bangkokers! Any events happening in Bangkok in last two weeks of Nov? Got my trip planned for then. Any events to attend as well as anything to avoid. Last year there was a studio ghibli exhibition. Took a girl LT and went to that. That was nice. Couple of years ago there was some ASEAN conference with politicians from a whole bunch of countries staying at my hotel. The hotel went on full lockdown every time they were coming or going. Not so nice. This year, apart from a Dua Lipa concert, I couldn't spot anything too interesting in BKK. May be an excursion to Chiang Mai for the lantern festival? Anyone else know of anything cool happening in BKK. Or if any of the bars doing special events around then? (yes, yes, I'll search and keep an eye on the Bars & Go-gos forum for that too)
bgtp
If you’re into indie music, there’s a two day festival Nov 23-24. I went last year and it was really good. I’ll be back in Bangkok in November and already have tix to go again. Info here Maho Rasop. Loy Krathong is on November 16. In Bangkok, Benchasiri Park between Sukhumvit Sois 22-24 (Phrom Phong BTS station) is a good place to celebrate. In Chiang Mai, it’s the 15-16 and they also do the lanterns in addition to the krathongs. I’ve been to Chiang Mai for this a few times and enjoyed it. Worth going if you’ve never been, but it gets very busy, so you might want to book a room in advance.
Kurios
Nice one! Thanks. I guess I'd have to decide pretty soon if I want to visit Chiang Mai. It would make for a nice relaxing start to my holiday rather than directly off the plane into Nana plaza, luggage and all. 😄 I'll have a gander at the Indi music festival too.
