bit of a non sequitur on this site but you dont need to get off the bts @ saphan taksin and then walk/take ferry to Icon Siam.  You can instead stay on BTS until Krung Thon Buri and then switch to the BTS extension to Charoen Nakhon which is directly @ Icon Siam.  Ferry is a bit more dramatic arrival tho.

I did it in reverse last trip earlier this year. It´s called BTS Gold Line and is a small 2-car slow train.

Or just walk from Krung Thon Buri, it's less than 20 minutes. Possibly not much slower than waiting for the slow gold line.

Get off the BTS at Saphan Taksin, then simply jump of the free boat from the pier underneath the BTS station.

I don't think 8 baht is going to slow down anyone considering actually shopping there.

And my morbid curiosity always wants to see how well secured the life vests are every time I get on a boat in Thailand, see how they make sure no one can steal those.

and that boat aint exactly “under” the BTS.  It’s a bit of a a walk.  and a fairly confusing one at that.  best bet is to stay on the bts the whole ride.

It is directly under Saphan Taksin BTS station.

True. It’s only 8thb though and runs every 15mins or so.
