0enkrz
Any places of interest in Udon. Heading that way in 2 weeks for something to break the boredom. Hotel references would be appreciated, local knowledge is hard to beat. Thanks everyone
e11bkk
I've pretty much always stayed at the Centara - it's especially nice after their recent refurb. I tried De Princess as well, which was good but the location wasn't anywhere near as prime as Centara. VELA Dhi same thing, nice hotel but location wasn't ideal for anything. My trips pretty much consistent of going to the mall, meeting my son & my GF's family so being near Day & Night isn't really priority. You can easily walk from Centara though. I stay there every month and the rooms are very clean and well appointed. Staff speak good English also. Prices start at 650 baht per night. Ban Bua is in the same Soi and is a five star hotel. Eight hotel and Top hostel are also in Soi Sampan. Plenty of choices of hotels, restaurants, bars etc in this Soi.. Other bar complex called Nutty Park is a three minute walk from @homeatudon hotel. Central Festival shopping centre is also a four minute walk from @homeatudon hotel. UD town is close to the train station and again a short walk from Soi Sampan. Very lively at night with restaurants, shopping, night market, KFC, Macdonalds, Burger King. Lots of Thai families and foreigners eat and drink at the small Thai restaurants there. It is a great place to visit and I go there most nights. Edited June 22 by tlcwaterfall

Stayed there a couple of weeks ago actually and was good minus a power cut for an hour or so but not the hotels fault. Also good is 'top hostel' which is further up the same soi just past day & night. Would be happy to stay at either again as both very good value and pretty much unbeatable location.
