J753 Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 I read in Bangkok Post that there's new visa terms coming into effect on 1 June 2024. The 2 details that caught my eye were: 1) visa on entry will be valid for 60 days, instead of the old 30 days. 2) retirement visa health insurance coverage reduces from 3m baht to 400,000 baht. I think they also said something about making visa for digital freelancers more attractive as well. My question is where is the authoritative source of info on this? Thai embassy doesn't say anything (yet). Maybe it will tomorrow, or maybe on 4th June as that's the first working day after 1 June, I believe. Would there be something in the Royal Thai Gazette? Not sure what the url for that is. Thanks in advance. Martin
e11bkk Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 Hopefully we see some more news about this today. Moving it to 60 days on arrival is a good move, I think it will be useful for a lot of people.
tangman Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 I came in on the 2nd. US citizen and my stamp shows only 30 days.
Chris in Makati Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 1 hour ago, tangman said: I came in on the 2nd. US citizen and my stamp shows only 30 days. Apparently, the 60-days upon entry will not start until later in the year
TonySoprano Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Is that 60 days valid from any country or just some countries?
Boofblumpkins Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 I’ve been eagerly waiting for more news on the updated visas, as well. I believe it was originally announced that it would start in June this year, but seems it will be pushed back farther. I work remotely and am hoping to take advantage of the digital nomad visa that would allow for 180 day stay before needing to exit and re-enter the country.
Woody Woodpecker Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Citizens from 93 nations are now eligible for 60 days visa-on-arrival. https://www.nationthailand.com/news/policy/40039678 A new Destination Thailand visa will be available for digital nomads, details on how to apply will soon be provided. https://www.thaiembassy.com/thailand-visa/a-guide-to-the-new-destination-thailand-visa-dtv
tonyacat Posted March 23 Posted March 23 There was a saying that the 60-day visa term would soon be cut back to 30 days. But ahead of Water Festival high season, and setbacks due to Myanmar's scam call-center kidnapping impacts on tourism, the Thai govt has yet to make a decision. Any updated news? Thai authorities divided on end of 60 days visa-exempt tourism. [Pattaya News: March 22, 2025]
